Backlink Checker
See how many backlinks and referring domains any website has, and its strongest links
How it works
No black box. Here's exactly what Backlink Checker checks.
- 1
You enter a domain
Any domain, subdomain or URL. We look up the whole site at its root domain.
- 2
We query DataForSEO
Their backlink index returns the totals, the top 20 referring domains and the top 20 backlinks, strongest first.
- 3
You see it as returned
Every number is shown exactly as the provider reports it. Anything they do not report says so, never a made-up 0.
Why this matters
Links from other sites are still one of the clearest signals search engines use to judge which pages deserve to rank, and AI answer engines lean on the same well-linked sources. Knowing who links to you, and to your competitors, tells you where your authority comes from and where to earn more.
- Referring domains usually matter more than raw backlink count: 100 links from one site is still one site vouching for you.
- A high nofollow share is normal for social and forum links, but editorial links are where most ranking value sits.
- Checking a competitor shows which sites link in your niche, a ready-made outreach list.
Where does this backlink data come from?
From DataForSEO's backlink index, the same source CrawlTide uses inside the product. No index sees the whole web, so totals here will differ from Ahrefs, Semrush or Google Search Console. Compare sites with the same tool rather than mixing sources.
What is the DataForSEO domain rank?
A 0 to 1000 score DataForSEO computes from the link graph. It is not Ahrefs Domain Rating or Moz Domain Authority and does not convert to either. Use it to compare sites against each other, not as a number Google uses.
Why can I only check a whole domain?
The free checker looks up root domains only, so blog.example.com and example.com/page are both checked as example.com. Page-level and subdomain backlink reports are part of a CrawlTide project.
How fresh are the results?
Each answer shows when the data was fetched. Lookups are cached for up to seven days, so a link you earned this morning may not appear yet.
Is there a limit?
Yes. Each lookup costs us real money, so there is a small per-visitor limit and a daily budget for everyone. If the daily budget runs out, the page says so and it resets at midnight UTC.
Want the full story across every page?
The Backlink Checker is a one-time snapshot of one domain. CrawlTide audits your whole site, syncs your backlinks to show what is new or lost, and puts competitors' link profiles next to yours.
No credit card. Free tier covers a small site end-to-end.
